I still consider myself mostly an amateur naturalist, but I do some independent consulting and I'm currently working towards an M.Sc. at Western University in London, Ontario. I live in southwestern Ontario just down the road from the settlement founded by the early Canadian botanist John Goldie.

My main botanical interest is the tribe Astereae (asters, goldenrods, fleabanes, etc.) of North America, but my M.Sc. research is on the macrofungi (yes, fungi!) of Ontario's Carolinian Zone.

I've been on the Field Botanists of Ontario board of directors since 2019 and I coordinate FBO's three annual awards: the John Goldie lifetime achievement award, the student award and the Bill Crowley photography award.

I collect field guides and I started a Field Guide Exchange group on Facebook.
